It was also ported to several consoles including Atari 2600, Sega Master System and NES. The game was designed by David Crane, the creator of Pitfall and one of the co-founder of Activision.

The gameplay is simple but addictive: you have to set up a ghost busting franchise in the city, starting from buying the car, choosing from the 4 available, and then equipping it with gadgets such as traps, ghost baits and marshmallow sensors. Once the car is ready, your ghostbusters can start driving across the city to find the ghosts and collect them. When you have reached enough energy, you can finally face the demon Zuul.

The game was created in only 6 weeks, since David Crane reused most of the elements of another game he was developing, Car Wars.

Ghostbusters is not only one of the most popular games ever released for the Commodore 64, it was one of the few games to feature digitized speech at that time.
